Queensland Rail

In support of the objectives outlined in the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Cth) and the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld), Queensland Rail has endeavoured to upgrade and improve train and station accessibility. As a part of these upgrade works, CV Infrastructure was contracted to deliver electrical infrastructure services to three stations: Thomas Street Station, Wulkuraka Station and Geebung Station.

Each project was constructed by incorporating day and night work, multiple staging, and compliance with QR training & technical requirements. Due to limited machine accessibility and tight time constraints over the course of these projects, capable planning, management and coordination from the CV team was required to complete the upgrades on time and on budget.

Thomas Street Station

The services involved the installation of electrical infrastructure for the extended platform accessibility upgrade.

The CV Infrastructure team delivered:

  • Remediation of existing platform pole lighting
  • An extension of the platform and installation of associated lighting and earthing

Wulkuraka & Geebung Stations

The services involved upgrades to the railway’s existing lighting and power systems to facilitate the accessibility upgrade.

The CV Infrastructure team delivered:

  • Platforms raised to core zone for the accessibility upgrade
  • Remediation and upgrade of existing platform lighting, including architectural and pole lighting
  • Installation of new distribution boards and isolation transformer
  • Architectural lighting and cable trays installed on the pedestrian footbridge
  • Exit and emergency lighting
